I suffer from allergies pretty much year round. I have a severe allergy to mold, which makes fall and winter difficult. Then there’s spring with all the pollen. Summer seems to be Donovan’s worst allergy season. We’ve tried one or two small air purifiers in the past to help improve our indoor air quality and lessen our allergy symptoms, but I never really noticed a big difference with those. I’m very pleased to say this is not the case with the Alen BreatheSmart Air Purifier with HEPA-Silver Filter! We’ve been using it for a few weeks now, and I’ve definitely noticed a difference in our air quality for a great #HealthyChange.
The Alen BreatheSmart Air Purifier has a number of fantastic features that make using it easy, convenient, and effective. It is a bit large—several feet tall and maybe two feet wide—but it still fits easily in a corner. And they have new designer panels for the front so the BreatheSmart will fit in with your decor.
The power button is surrounded by an Air Quality Light that changes from blue to orange to red to indicate the current quality of your air using Alen’s SmartSensor Techonology. If you select the “Auto” function, the BreatheSmart will automatically select the appropriate fan speed to clean your air based on its current level of pollution—red means the BreatheSmart has detected poor air quality, and as you can see in the picture above that’s what it found when I first turned it on in our home.
The BreatheSmart also has four different fan speeds. If you don’t want to use auto, you can select a low fan speed all the way up to Turbo. It uses Alen’s WhisperMax Technology to clean large amounts of air without being too loud. And the noise is even frequency balanced to help you sleep, so you can run the BreatheSmart at night without it waking you up. Even on Turbo, the fan isn’t horribly loud. I put it on the second fan speed and turned it on in the boys room during their nap time the other day instead of the fan that we usually have on to provide them background noise to help them sleep. They napped like champs!
The BreatheSmart also has a timer function on it. It can be set to run for 4, 8, or 12 hours, after which it will shut itself off. And it also has a ion button. When activated, the BreatheSmart releases ions which help small particles clump together for more efficient purification.
Alen’s HEPA-Silver filter captures dust, allergens, light odor, and airborne pollutants while also killing collected bacteria and microbes in rooms up to 1100 square feet! That’s a big area! And it comes with a Pre-Filter layer to capture larger particles to extend the life of the HEPA material. The filter only needs to be replaced every 6-12 months if running constantly, or every 12-18 months if only running the BreatheSmart as needed.
I’ve been moving the BreatheSmart around to different rooms in our house to give us cleaner air overall. The most noticeable difference has been in the boys’ room. It smelled, well, like little boys, no matter how much I try to keep it clean and fresh. But, the BreatheSmart Air Purifier removed all the odors in just a few hours. Their room smells way better now. And I haven’t taken my daily allergy medicine for several days now with no allergy symptoms. So, it really does seem to be helping us! The real test will come this summer when Donovan’s allergies usually are bad. But, I’m confident that he will have an easier time of it this year, thanks to our BreatheSmart.
