*I received a family 4 pack of tickets to Legoland Discover Center for the purposes of this review. All opinions are my own.
If you live in the Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Kansas City, or Westchester area and you have kids, you’ve gotta check out Legoland Discover Center. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon of fun family time and let the kids burn off some energy. We’ve visited Legoland Chicago twice now, and the boys had a great time.
When you first walk in, there’s a huge replica of the Chicago skyline done entirely in legos, complete with moving Metra trains and ferris wheel on Navy Pier. It’s a really impressive thing to see.
As you go farther in, there are fun jungle displays with tigers, monkeys, and Indiana Jones, a giant spider, Star Wars characters and more. There’s also a ride downstairs that the kids love. You sit in a little car and you get to shoot lego bad guys as you travel through the ride’s story. It keeps score so you can best your friends. Donovan loves that it’s an active ride where he gets to shoot the gun, and even Avery enjoyed it, talking and pointing at things.
After that, you head upstairs where they have the Lego Factory Tour, a giant play structure, classes on how to make different objects with Legos, and all sorts of lego building stations, including giant legos for the little kids to play with.
If the kids get hungry, there’s a small area to eat that serves standard lunch fair and various snacks. And for kids over 3 ft tall, theres a fun helicopter ride that you pedal to make it fly higher.
We’ve gone with kids ranging from 1 year old all the way up to 13, and they all had fun. Even the adults had a good time reliving their childhoods and building with Legos. Plus, everything is indoors, so it’s a perfect rainy day or winter activity!
Now through the end of this year, you get one free child admission with every adult admission! So you can have lots of fun and save some money, too. Just print this coupon and present it when you purchase tickets at the door: Legoland Chicago Coupon.
