I’m a big hot tea drinker…I usually have at least a cup a day, sometimes more. And with winter being so very, very cold this year, hot tea is the perfect drink to warm up with. Drinking tea is a healthy way to hydrate and can be very relaxing even when you’re really busy. But, it’s not always travel friendly, especially if you like to drink loose leaf tea, which I love because you can get more fun blends and varieties than you can find in tea bags. Now, LibreTea has solved the problem of loose leaf tea on the go with their well designed infusers and mugs!
I’ve been trying out their 14 oz Travel Tea Glass Infuser, and I really like it. The infuser is double paned with a glass interior to keep the flavor of your tea fresh and keep plastic chemicals from leaching into your drink. The exterior layer is durable, BPA free plastic that both protects the glass interior and keeps the infuser from getting too hot to the touch. The lid of the infuser is in two parts that screw together to create the top. One part is just a cap, but the other contains a filter that lets you sip your loose leaf tea without ingesting the actual tea leaves.
Libre even has a video about the various ways to you can brew your tea. You can put the loose leaf into the cup, add water, and then screw on the lid and go. Or, you can put the water in the cup, screw on the filter, place the tea on top of the filter, then screw on the lid and turn the cup upside down. Let your tea brew for a bit and then flip it over, take off the lid and filter, and discard the tea leaves. The strength and bitterness of your tea will really determine which method you use…a really strong black tea will get too bitter if left in the water too long, so you’d want to use the flip and discard method for that. You can also use the glass for any other beverage you’d like, hot or cold. The double layer design will help keep the optimum temperature for whatever you’re drinking.
I generally use the first method, placing the tea directly in the cup, since my favorite types of tea are herbal teas like roiboos, honeybush, and other herbal blends that don’t tend to get too bitter. As I write this, I’m enjoying Teavana’s Roiboos Tropica Blend with a little milk in it in my LibreTea cup! So yummy and nice and warm. In addition to the 14 oz infuser I got, they also have a 9oz infuser and a 10 oz travel mug. Overall, I really like my new LibreTea infuser. I can take tea on the go in the morning and then refill the cup with water throughout the day to stay hydrated and feeling great whether we’re at home or out and about…and I get to indulge my loose leaf tea addiction more often.
